Day 2 - Malaysian Comic Convention
Day 2 of the Malaysian Comic Convention. Better than yesterday. Why? Cos this time I didn’t have to carry my god damn camera bag and tripod all over the place. Decided to ask Khairil M Bahar whether I could use his Sony NEX5N as he would most definitely be shooting with his Sony NEX-7. Today, travelled lighter. Carried the 5N instead of my Canon 5D mark II. Lenses? I only used the 16mm 2.8 pancake and the Canon 50mm 1.4 (adapter).
Below, attending a class. ‘The Hall Of Justice’. Listening to some old veteran local comic book writers speak about their experience and knowledge regarding the build-up of Malaysian comics.

Cosplay. Darth Vader, Storm Troopers etc were there. Got to get some photos with them and videos.
‘Iron Man’ was there. Apparently he had everyone’s attention with his costume. Awesome indeed. I actually wanted him to do some poses on cam, had this idea to animate him to crash down from the sky breaking the floors, with dust etc. Didn’t get the chance. BUT, I may have something in the shots that may be possible. Not sure, but will check it out.
‘Lefty’, one of the writers, artist for the comic ‘Major Zombie’ signed one of their copies for me. Thought I might just get one anyways. Looked interesting.
Oh and I bumped into this guy. Main actor in Khairil M Bahar’s recent feature film, ‘Relationship Status’. He was apparently the MC on the whole event. I met him yesterday and he looked too busy and today, managed to caught up with him and told him I watched the movie and wanted a photo. He was nice.
Cute Spider-Girl. Its only yesterday I knew that Spider-Girl actually exist. Was told that Spider-Girl is the daughter of Peter Parker. Yup. Peter and Mary-Jane had a baby. Had no idea where that came from but that’s what the guy said.
Also, managed to get my last photo before leaving with this character whois name is Alodia. Not sure what she was actually. But doesn’t matter, got to get a photo. Yesterday she was ‘Black Widow’ and i missed the chance when she was in the cosplay. But, this one? CUTE!
AND so, that was the end of the 2 days of shooting Comic Convention. Managed to shoot something. I’m still not sure what I’m gonna do yet aside from making it like a short-quick cut of everything. Khai is doing something else with it which should be cool cos he went around interviewing people.
Had fun actually. Better than the first day. Maybe because i was carrying too much stuff and I wasn’t comfortable. If you readers have been following me on Instragram then you might have seen all those MACBETH shoes I’ve been constantly posting up. Below is the final shot! I love these shoes!!! FYI, it took me 6 years to find this Macbeth model and size!
Who is Adam Groves?
The 28 year old is a local independent filmmaker who enjoys making short skit films broadcasting them on his Youtube channel. He is a full-time videographer and founder of Visual Dimensions Production established in 2007 based in Brunei Darussalam. He is well-known by many others for his hit web-series 'BREAK', 'S.T.A.T' as well as other shot comedy films. He is also one of the top wedding videographers in the country.
